WiseTech Global said it plans to cut about 2,000 roles over the next two years as the Australian logistics software company restructures around artificial intelligence.

The reduction represents nearly a third of the company’s global workforce and is one of the largest AI-linked job-cut programs announced by a major Australian technology firm in recent years.

The company said the changes are part of a broader shift in how software is built and maintained, as it expands AI use across customer products and internal operations. Management described the move as a response to a fast-moving change in software development workflows.

WiseTech said the cuts are expected to be phased through FY26 and into FY27. Reporting on the announcement said some teams, including product and development and customer service functions, could face deeper reductions than others.

The restructuring announcement came alongside WiseTech’s half-year results, with the company also reaffirming its full-year guidance. Investors pushed the stock higher after the update, even as the workforce cuts highlighted the scale of the company’s planned transition.

The next key step will be management’s detailed briefing on the restructuring program, including how the reductions are sequenced across divisions and how the company expects the AI rollout to affect operations and costs over time.
